Project Details Step into a new age of learning at the Richard A. Balderston OPC ’69 Lower School at William Penn Charter in Philadelphia. Designed by EwingCole, the vibrant, nature-centric space features modern flexible furniture, loads of daylight and playful outdoor areas. In the lobby, our “Fragmented Illusion” sculpture nods to the leaves of the local trees found in nearby Wissahickon Valley Park. Crafted from custom graphics on polycarbonate, each element (over 200 total!) is positioned at a different angle to create a meandering form. In the lobby, our “Fragmented Illusion” sculpture nods to the leaves of the local trees found in nearby Wissahickon Valley Park. Crafted from custom graphics on polycarbonate, each element (over 200 total!) is positioned at a different angle to create a meandering form. Fun fact: the students took high-res photos of a special wall mural at their old school and we used these photos to create the graphics shown! This beautiful, Biophilic piece will inspire our younger generation to embrace the joy of school, nature and creativity.
