Project Details The Center for Architecture + Design, hosted by the AIA San Francisco chapter, occupies the newly renovated ground floor of the Hallidie Building. This 1917 building is credited as one of the first in the U.S. to feature a glass curtain wall. The Center is a cultural center for architects, designers and the community to meet, learn and collaborate about the power of design amongst a lecture hall, gallery, storefront cafe and meeting rooms. This 1917 building is credited as one of the first in the U.S. to feature a glass curtain wall. The Center is a cultural center for architects, designers and the community to meet, learn and collaborate about the power of design amongst a lecture hall, gallery, storefront cafe and meeting rooms. The interiors showcase an industrial aesthetic with natural materials throughout. We created an organic-shaped pendant, made from plywood blades, that array around a lit opal acrylic tube for the conference room. The light bounces between the elements and provides an effortless glow on the table below.
